A scene from my favourite book created as a personal painting ‘The Day of the Triffids’ by John Wyndham. I call this FINDING FATHER’. It depicts the two protagonists finding Josselyn’s father dead upon the floor having been killed by the Triffid laying in wait to devour the body.
Note the background detail which shows many subtle story elements which only will only be recognise by fans of the book, such as myself, or those who have read the book. There are 'easter eggs' such as the portrait of author John Wyndham, the Original 1951 book cover artwork, a Penguin Classic cover of H.G. Wells’ The War of the Worlds which was a large inspiration for this book. There's also a painting hung on top of the Triffid inspired wallpaper that depicts the Isle of Wight. This painting may serve as a clue to the story’s ending for some.
This artwork has now officially taken it's place as the Czech Republic cover of The Day of the Triffids ...or should I say 'Den Trifidů'. I feel deeply honoured to say that I now have created the official cover for my favourite book of all time!
I own eight variations of The Day of the Triffids including the original First Edition.
