Really interesting portrait to paint. From a Western perspective I’m not overly familiar with the full spectrum of different shapes of female Japanese eye shapes. I had to do a lot of image research, looking at a lot of photographs of the subject as well as many other people from the East in order to better understand the subtleties of what makes Hanako’s features so unique. She was happy with the finished portrait and even uses it as her profile picture on social Media.
