Asked to do some top level concept ideas for Warhammer The Old World, specifically the Empire of Man was a little eye-raising to me. It's been over twenty years since I played Warhammer Empire. Haha. So, I decided to created my Empire Regiment with a twist! After all, if you're not adding something special... you're just drawing the same thing that's been around for almost forty years!
The first concept, my 'Shadow's Guard' is a Regiment of the Empire based in the deep woods. Largely they are quite typical of Empire soldiers in light armour. However, they rely heavily on firearms and the leaf cloaks they wear blessed by Elementalists. The cloaks making them practically invisible in the forrests, giving them stealth to pop-up and snipe their enemy from any distance.

Below you can see the concept of my secound Regiment. Made up of villagers, slaves, witches, bandits and more. So this is very far removed from your usual Empire of Man Regiment but the truth is that I would love to see 'real' folk make more of an appearance in Warhammer The Old World. Some of the most beautiful mini's are those with character and story elements, and so a Regiment entirely with individualism (which is possible) would prove so successful amongst fans. Look at how individual the Necromunda Forces are - proof that it can be done.

Additionally, This Regiment could be used in smaller Detachments for other Old World Empire Units. For instance, a Detachment of Youngsters armed with flaming slingshots ;) could back-up Empire Bowmen!
